Not bad at all, people. The songs are:
- Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water: Verse and chorus rhytm. Just about the only thing not there is the main riff.....
- Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away: Y'all got that one
- Genesis - Invisible Touch: A bit harder, apparently. Though I can see that somebody might confuse this with the keyboard line from Jump
- Black Sabbath - Paranoid: Although I would have accepted Ozzy Osbourne as an answer, seeing as how one of the fills here was lifted off of the Randy Rhoads Tribute album.
- Eminem - Marshall Mathers: Off of the Marshall Mathers LP - the only song nobody found
The scores for this round (and the cumulative scores as well, this being the inaugural quiz):
- Sondre (8/10)
- Pigeon (6/10)
- Cathy/Anders (tie - both 4/10)
The next one is going to be simpler, methinks.
EDIT: Scores are updated - one point for artist, and one for the song

second position !!!!!
Careful Sondre, here I come !!!!!
Damn, Genesis !!!
No chance on Paranoid. Wouldn't been able to name it even if you played me the original recording.
Eminem: W-boi, you tricky bastard! Never even though you've recorded something from the that genre! :-D

Only the bass line gave this one away. If it hadn't been Digitech Whammy your wife gave for Christmas, I would have been up sh*t creek on this one... ;-)
You can blame the Whammy as long as you want loooooooooser !!!!!
Read my comment. I didn't blame the Digitech. It actually saved me...

Dude; if I only recorded stuff I listen to on an every day basis, there'd be a lot of symphonic epic hollywood metal, a lot of neoclassical metal, a lot of extreme power metal, and some 80's pop metal. And no correct answers. This way is SO much better, wouldn't you agree?

LOL......I must admit - the addition of something resembling a bass helps a lot for many of the songs

I know ...
I was just looking for an excuse to call you loooooooser
P-diddy. You don't need any excuse to use the L-word. The score speaks volume...

I meant, I didn't expect rap/ hip-hop. That genre aren't excatly know for beeing overly guitar based...
;-)
You did have a pretty good selection of songs, I'll give you that.

Alternatively; only a loser would have to look for excuses to call someone a loser.....

I know there's a Monty Python/Spanish Inquisition joke in here somewhere, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna try to locate it. What with the social stigma of reciting MP and all

Yes, indeed. I might be a loser, but at least I'm a beer-buying loser...
:-D

This comes from the guy who in a recent post gave "Quadruple geek points" to whomever could name the Schrödinger equation...
Well good for you
Are you saying that despite losing, you can hold your head high knowing that you at least honor your bets, a trait which according to your observations appears to be inversely correlated to wearing a beret whilst holding a bottle of anti-freeze in one hand and a baguette in the other, Anders?

Exactly. THAT's how bad the stigma associated with publicly reciting MP is.........
/kudos for correct use of whomever, btw
/kudos for correct use of whomever, btw
Yes, 'cause that was cut'n'paste from your original post...

Bingo! Couldn't have said it better...
tssss !!!
I can't buy you a beer if I don't see you !!!!!
