Actually I like the simplicity of one semi-clean track only for this melody line. I tried some countermelodies and stuff when I recorded this, but to my mind - albeit just one white man's opinion - additional layers cluttered the tune.
I'm working on a more Yngwie-esque instrumental over the same progression at the moment though. The new one will have bass, one rhythm track and the lead, in addition to a guest performance by my spectacular drummer

Yes, that was my thought as well. I really liked the dynamics of the song, adn thought that the quiter parts shouldn't be filled up with sounds. So I was a bit curious of what you would have done to it. If you would add more to it.
In any case, I know we both agree that adding foot-tapping and harmonic is never wrong.
