Guitar Quiz Bonus Round - Part II

So, a bit late, but here are round two of the bonus quiz, as requested by Wilhelm.

Edit: Since song 7 was totally unknow (except for the few musical gourmets out there) and song 10 was too crappy, I replaced them. Song 10 is still from the same best selling 80's album as the previous one. Song 7 is a brand new alltime classic...

Edit II: Old song 10 is back (with a vengeance) as song 11, for a bonus point this round. So 11 points this round (song 10 and 11 are by the same artist, from the same album)

Now some of you guys should have a fighting chance of getting a full score!

Send your answers to atrainquiz@gmail.com by Saturday 24th of May. Answers will be posted on Sunday 25th of May. Good luck!

Song 6:

Song 7:

Song 8:

Song 9:

Song 10:

Song 11:

The guitar nerdy stuff:
Song 6 - Supro
Song 7 - Takamine
Song 8 - Supro
Song 9 - National Style O
Song 10 - Supro
Song 11 - Supro

The guitar tones may not resemble anything near the original, but this is what I got...

That's cool, broski!

I'm guessing you spent some time on getting the muted parts right on Song 10, huh?

And kudos on the guitar sound on song 8 - quite spot on.

I think I've got two right off the bat....

Yes, I'm not used to playing with a flatpick, and this song requires it. And I'm more jused to the bridge on my National the on the Supro. ;-)
The original also got some notes ringing a bit, but not as much as my recording.

Thank you, thank you. Yes, that one is the one I'm most pleased with. And it is actually a fun song to play! Song 6 isn't too bad either, actually, which is surprising considering how far my setup is from the original.

How's your batting average? ;-)
Which ones? Obviously number 8, and the second one is?

Anyway, I think it's consider getting 3 artists + songs right good. I'll be really impressed if somebody gets more than that. I should have recorded two other songs for number 7 and 10, but opted for getting this round online instead. 'Cause by the time I would have gotten my recording kit mounted again and recorded decent tracks on two more tunes, Chinese Democracy would have been released and sold multi-platinum.

...and by the way....now I've got 49 new songs for the guitarquiz "revenge" instead of 50. :-(

I'm pretty damn sure I've got numero 6 and 8.

'Cause by the time I would have gotten my recording kit mounted again and recorded decent tracks on two more tunes, Chinese Democracy would have been released and sold multi-platinum.

Now THAT was pure comedy gold

Dang. Sorry 'bout that, mate. E-mail me your take, I would love to hear it, though.

Only the easy ones left, then.
:-O

...says something about my playing, hu?
;-D

No dice - I'll still include it. If I place it far along in the next quiz, odds are the people who didn't know it in the first place will have forgotten all about it.

So you'll still get to hear it, is what I'm sayin...

What's with the blowjob-smiley?

Not at all - rather that with Chinese Democracy, Axl Rose has provided the world with a working definition of infinite time frames as they relate to our life spans.

well, I think I would remember it. So chalk one up for the A-team on that round. ;-)

LOL. Missed the ")" key.

Are you saying that Chinese Democracy won't hit the shelfs in the CD stores this summer?

I'm sayin' that the odds of Chinese Democracy hitting the stores this summer are almost as low as said record being a financial success if and when it's released due to the amount of time spent on it and the fact that it's been hyped and re-hyped so many times that it's got to be way better and have more commercial potential than "Appetite For Destruction" combined with "Metallica" raised to an exponent close to the number of sold units of "Thriller" not to be a gigantic failure.

Brah! I freakin' had the old number ten......wanna throw hands? >:-(

..s'all good though, 'cause I've got the new number ten as well. Plus; there was nuthin' wrong with the old number ten recording-wise; I thought it was good

...and dude; whoever has that song in number seven, they sure ripped off that song we attempted to record during your bachelor party...you know; the song written for the occasion by that guy who sho' likes to put in notes and junk....

Now brah....in the liner notes you so rudely removed you included a hint about song numero nine; would you care to repeat that?

Anders said...

I'm impressed. I thought the guitar line on that tune was mixed too much in the back to be recognized. I'll put it back up then, so we have 1 bonus point this round.

LOL.
Yeah, it is. Somebody should start collecting their royalties...
;-)

that guy who sho' likes to put in notes and junk....

"Nothing is still nothing. But a little, now that's something"
"Less is more"
etc, etc, etc

Now brah....in the liner notes you so rudely removed you included a hint about song numero nine; would you care to repeat that?

No, I did not include such a thing in the original notes. That hint was in a private e-mail correspondance between two individuals. You know, so that the other people competing in the quiz wouldn't know we were cheating...

But now that the cat is out of the bag: It's a song originally from an late 80's album.

If you do decide to put it back up, do it because the recording was fine, 'cause it was.

Somebody should start collecting their royalties...

YEAH; that guy who likes his guitars pointy,. his notes plentiful and in harmonic minor and his beer girly better git some checks mailed to the new house, you know what I'm sayin'...

Bullshit; if so - how would I know about it? >:-(

Oh wait.....

Oh, snap

Well, basically, the reason why I removed those two tracks, was because I didn't think anybody would get them right. So there wasn't any point of having them up. But obviously you proved me wrong. So for that reason, I'll put it up there. Whether the recording is fine or not doesn't matter; as long as it is recongizable, it's fine. The quiz is all about fun and are not to be taken too serious, right? So up with it again, I won't rob you for a well deserved point. I am truely impressed; had this lined up for the first round, but replaced it with Born On The Bayou. 'Cause I thought that was easier...

Just statin' the facts, maam.

Pigeon brought this ultragirly beer from france called Desperados, and it tasted even better than Corona with a lime wedge :-)

I guess the moral of the story is I don't like beer

Well, look at the bright side: You can share a beer with the guy moving your lawn. You know, pretend you are a man of the people.
