I am ALL about this approach to losers who still in this day and age actually receive cell phone calls in the movie theater. Good find, P-mac

Yes it's from Californication, the very new sexy show with David Mulder Duchovny.

I must admit that after seeing the teasers for this show on teh TV for a while, it appears to be the most blatant example of "tits, ass and sex as substitute for actual story and actors" I've ever seen.

They even try to sell the show as "lots of tits, ass, sex and swearing". That really has me sold on the quality of the show.

I'm with the W-dude. The preview of this show has turned me away from it. Too much tits and ass.

Wilhelm said...

Word! They don't even hint to a storyline, butkeep insisting that watching this show guarantees bountiful sightings of tits, ass and sex.

That's not even trying. At some point, the people intent on watching this should just realize that they should take the final step and abandon tv for porn. They just need to stop using "but it's on TV" to legitimize their habit.

So basically you made your opinion on a teaser made by norvegian television instead of trying to watch it ?

You've got to make some kind of pre-selection as to what shows you're gonna watch. Agreed?

Also, the people who have bought the show and put it in a time-slot adapted to a target demographic are quite well suited to market the show to the intended market segment. Agreed?

It's highly unlikely that some home improvement show would be hyped by the network using the same type of ad strategies as this show, S&TC and the Housewife show. Rather, you advertise using the selling points of the show so as to attract your audience in a cutthroat business. Agreed?

If you suggest that one should watch an episode to make up one's mind, then one could always argue that merely watching one episode isn't sufficient to make up one's mind, which leads to a downward spiral of logic. Agreed?

So if the marketing people in the network fail to present the show for what it really is (if what you're alluding to holds true, then I fail to see how that's MY problem.

Also, I should point out that the teasers for television shows usually present the show in a manner which is quite consistant with the content, in my opinion.

So......was there something, "Pigeon"?

So...
What does the preview of Gilmore girls look like?

Wilhelm said...

From what I remember, it was snippets of conversations between Lorelei and Rory, ice fronts between Lorelei and her parents, and hints of a growing romance between Lorelei and Luke. Pretty darn accurate, I'd say.

Yes there is something !!!

Don't tell me that you're that guy : the guy who says that a specific movie or TV series suck without seeing it !!

I've watched Californication, and even if it's not the TV series of the century, I can tell that it's not only tits and ass.

Please go through my list and tell me where I'm wrong.

So....Was there something, "big guy"?

And that made you wanna watch it? Mmmh. I'd say you should give S&TC, Californication and Desperate Housewives a chance. In fact, take the weekend, hire buy the first season on DVD and watch. Then you can tell us what you think. And I'll bet the lady spins clockwise once you're finished...

Well; it was apparently a dialogue-driven show in which the daughter was planning towards going to Harvard, so sure.

Truth be told though, I didn't see the teaser before i'd already started watching thhe show, seeing as how I lived in da US when it emerged on Norwegian TV screens.

Wilhelm said...

Hey - Pigeon: I'm watching an episode of this wonderful show right now, and I've gotta say - my previous assessment was pretty fuckin' spot on. So much for you theory, tiger.....

Anders said...

Sooooo.... Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives next? Just to check the theory?

Wilhelm said...

LOL......

Nooooooo..... not really. Quite happy with having confirmed my theory for this show. Or not, as the case may be.

Besides, I've already watched a few episodes of Sex&TC and two episodes of DH, and I'm sad to say that they lived up to my expectations. Kudos to HBO for continuously spewing out a high ratio of crap shows just to capitalize on people who'd probably watch nothing but porn if it wasn't for the social stigma.

Oh thanks W., I happen to love S&TC, so does that make me one of those?

Wilhelm said...

I figured I haven't pushed any buttons lately....

Don't worry, I happen to be french and according to V to da V, it's makes me a big loser , oh wait for it..., bad example ...

Wilhelm said...

....with teh french, one might actually argue that it negates the concept of free will, as one is typically born into citizenship.

Let's see - what other buttons are within pushing reach

Cathy said...

LOL
It had been a while so I guess I should've known...

Me, me, me, me. Do me!!!! Please, please, please, please...

Cathy said...

Maybe your buttons are not so fun pushing A.! But he'll do it anyways...wait for it...wait for it...

Wilhelm said...

...yeah, Anders...'cause that wouldn't have a tremendous potential for coming back to haunt me at all....

Cathy said...

...wait for it...

Anders said...

I'm still waiting, Cathy. Should I give up?
;-D

I'll deal with you later, Anders....right now I've got booking problems to take care of
