I do believe the Willster does have an edge on me when it comes to photo, but I still thought I should post some snaps here. First off, Bergen. Not too happy with the techical details here; the sky is too blurry. I know this is a common problem, so any tips are most welcome.
Then some snaps from my May trip to Warsaw. First of all, I was surprised by the many old, really well kept buildings, like this one:
Warsaw had some of the most modern skyskrapers I've seen:
A detail from the roof of a shopping mall. Not quite the effect I was hoping for, but a fun exercise regardless.

I really liked the detail from the shopping mall and the bergen one.
If the sky is too blurry, you could try to a) rotate it in PhotoShop, or b) move to a city where the skies are always clear and blue, like Trondheim :-)
The Bergen photo has already been rotated. (And, btw, is too dark on my office monitor). Didn't help much. So I'll guess I have to start looking for housing in Trondheim, then. I've heard it's a lot of trees and flowers up there...
:-D
Damn straight!
And skylines - don't forget about them skylines
The only real solution to the Bergen photo, where you have highlights in the sky and a dark foreground (or areas of big contrast in general), is hdr. I can never be bothered to do it, since it requires time and additional software and scripts and I know not what. But the result can be nice if you avoid the very artificial-looking ones. A search for hdr on Flickr should give you some examples. Of course, if you do that, you have left the "authentic" phoography behind for ever :-)
I've got that same problem with plenty of my pics as well.
Kjersti: I know that's an option. But you need to plan that ahead and bring a tripod for the camera. :-/
Or get a camera with a bracketing function :-)
Haven't even purchased a tripod yet. :-(
