Artists against file-sharing

So, the Norwegian Association for Composers and Lyricists (NOPA) has gone public and encouraged people not to vote Venstre, Rødt or SV, due to the said parties program of legalizing file-sharing. And, as we have discussed on this blog earlier, the main concern from the artist, is that none of the parties have a good plan for securing the income to the artist if file sharing is legalized. At least that's how I read it.

Personally, I think the worst part is Venstre's deputy chairman, Trine Skei Grande, who accuses the artist of being the record industry's puppets. Yeah, great respond to somebody who's concerned about their ability to make a living out of music...

Well; provided that file-sharing is high enough on your list of priorities when choosing a party to vote for, then sure.

That being said, Venstre is a one-man operation (now that the douche who was famous first for being married to and then being divorced from a model), and Trine Skei Grande is the 0.75 Martin Kolberg on the Charismatic Black Hole scale. Last election, I didn't know who she was until I checked out their web page and noticed that she was Sponheim's second-in-command. And I actually paid close attention to the debates.

In my opinion, Venstre suffers from a serious problem in addition to the one mentioned above: The youth branch of the party - supposedly where the party is going to get its up-and-comers - is nowhere to be seen unless they make dumb-ass political hay with one of the following three cases: 1) Legalize marihuana and other recreational drugs, 2) legalize filesharing, and 3) legalize polygamy. If you've ever seen the youth branch of Venstre taking initiative to launch any other proposal, please let me know.

Actually I find Abid Q. Raja to be a kick-ass politician, so maybe there's hope. He sure was annoying as a lawyer though.

That's the sad fact these days, people seem to be more focused on single issues rather then complete politics. Hence, you get parties like Kystpartiet on Stortinget. And the Piracy Party gets lot of votes in the European election.

The sad thing is that Venstre has Odd Einar Dørum, who actually is a decent politican, but unfortunatly rivals Martin Kolberg on the personality scale.

1) Legalize marihuana and other recreational drugs, 2) legalize filesharing, and 3) legalize polygamy.

Are you saying that if you like burnin' yer ganja while sharing your Bob Marley and the Wailers bootlegs and watching your wifes make dinner and do the dishes, Venstre is the party for you?

If and when "The Young Bucks" take over - yes
