MSNBC Dateline\To Catch A Predator is totally must-see TV. Essentially, losers who chat with and proposition underage kids online are intercepted by undercover cops and a TV crew. Some of these losers travel for 6 hours in hopes of having sex with a 13 year old girl, only to be confronted by a reporter with a transcript of their chat and then with the five-o.
To me, this is the best example of journalism, law enforcement and entertainment actually existing in the same space.
Epic ownings:

I strongly disagree on the "the best example of journalism, law enforcement and entertainment actually existing in the same space". This is the kind of TV that aims for the most primitive aspect of human beings in the viewers. And it is not a journalist/ TV crew's job to solve crimes. Leave that to the police.
But even if there is more sides to this issue, I do agree on the "loser" bit of your comment. And I also would love to have these guys put away.
Haven't seen the clips you posted, but the show is aired on TV Norge here in Norway (which in itself should speak volumes about the quality of the show).
Just my 0.02 pesos.
...well; I can't think of any other examples where this combo has produced good overall results, and at least there's entertainment value to be found here. :-)
Seriously though; my impression is that the camera team is just tagging along with the vice squad, not the other way around. If so, it'd be bad.
Plus; you just can't feel sorry for some douche who travels five hours in the hopes of raping a 13 year old and finds himself face to face with armed police. You just can't. Not to mention that with the transcripts AND the fact that they physically travel to the location of the decoy, they've demonstrated intent and motivation. Some of these douches show up on the doorstep with a 12-pack of beer and a jar of vaseline and are on their way to dropping their pants when Chris hansen shows up. Then they change their story to "Dude; I was just coming over to talk, man....."
Hook a brutha' up.
They're so guilty, OJ is probably sittin' in his recliner going "You KNOW those guys did it" when he watches the show.
It's the TV crew that does all the chatting, plans the whole stuff, rents a place, etc, etc. It's the police who just "tags along". They even deputiezed a couple of the TV crew members for a really short time, just to avoid some laws in one of the states where the shot this series.

Nope. For most of them, you can't.
Dang! I was under the impression that the 5-0 was running the show, with a camera crew tagging along.
The other way ain't that good :-/
Yes, TV crew that follows and document police work can be great TV.
Anyway, To Catch A Predator is on TV Norge Thursdays at 22:50. You could check it out for yourself and see what you think.
