Finally

SV's Øystein Djupedal admits that their plan for education sucks.

The first step is admitting that you've got a problem. Now fix it!

Well, it seems that SV and Mr. Djupedal are most concerned with kindergarten and elementary school. Give them another 10 year or so, and maybe they will discover that they are also responsible for something called high school and university...

Well; one tends to argue from one's present level, I guess. And so Mr. Øystein "three of my years in elementary school were spent in fifth grade" Djupedal looks upon life from the perspective of a pre-schooler.

They need to focus more on the kids learning to read, write and do arithmetics... if the kids aren't able to do that, then WTF would be the point of the remaining subjects? Last I heard, reading, writing and - well - counting, are required for most courses, not to mention for, like, jobs.

Yeah, I noticed that from the article. He basically said "we had focused on giving the children food and a full days worth of school, but now we realized that they actually needs to learn to read, write and add and stuff. We messed up. Sorry!"
