Debate on fundamental research in Norway

Look to Sweden. Norway do have the resources to get a University into the top 100 list. Not on the level of Karolinska Institute anytime in the near future, but to have one placed firmly in the top 50 should be possible. 10-20 years, if the funding and political drive is there.

Personally I do find it sad that we don't have more research-driven/ high-tech industries (besides oil and gas) in Norway. Check out AstraZeneca's reseach facilities in Södertalje for inspiration. There is nothing even remotely like that in Norway.
