More landscape pics for Anders

Taken at Lade, close to Rotvoll.

Taken a 15-minute walk from our place, on a cold and windy January day.

I liked the bottom one. In my opinion, the upper one would look better if you cut some of the lower part.

This is, of course, my opinion as a well seasoned and semi-professional photographer...

One more thing: You do like a lot of blue in your photos, don't you? And btw, if you read the book I lent you about the elements of graphic design, there is a lot of things that can be transfered directly to photographs:; The use of white space, how to connect elements, the rule of thirds, etc. In fact, a lot of the examples are photographs

In my head, the ridges in the bottom art of the pic would sort of guide the eyes towards the trees and what have you. I don't know if this never would've worked that way or if I should have positioned myself in parallel with the grooves.

You don't like it when I work blue? :-) Do you refer to the fact that I haven't in any way worked the pics, or to the unfortunate fact that the sky tends to be blue 'round midday?

I've worked my way through the hardcover one, and I'm starting on the softcover, where I'm guessing all the cool stuff is, seeing as how the other one was a scnoozefest

Yes, that's the effect I'm seeing as well. Don't mean to cut out everything on the lower part, but I think the lines are more defined in the slope (i.e. cut out the "cruve" part of the black grooves). If you know what I mean. But on closer inspection, maybe you're right about it becoming even better if you've been parallell to the grooves. If not better, at least groovier! :-D

...and that's when you do all of your photographing? Is that what you're saying?
:-)

I've worked my way through the hardcover one,..

Which I assume you got through within a couple of hours? It's not like it takes forever.

It's more to the point, yes, and have a much more defined subejct.

Ah, you're too harsh. It is basically an introduction, yes, but I do really love the design of that book. The double page layout, the use of white space, the figures and font/ font size.

...sorry, but I'm keep coming back to this one. Let's summarize: The pics were taken around midday, during winter. The components: Mountains (during winter), snow (there's a reason blue is known as a cold nuance), the freakin' fjord (water, blue, remember?) and the sky.

And you comment on how I like a lot of blue in the photos?

You crack me up, brotha' :-)

Word life. By the way; if I crop the image like you suggest (and I'm totally on board with that suggestion btw), there will be more blue in the photo :-)

..maybe it just felt like a week :-)

Seriously though; I've started the other one, and it appears much more promising from where I stand.

You know I'm into blues, I was merely expressing my surprise of finally getting you into it as well. :-D

LOL!

I would imaginge so. The hardback one is a bit too wide scope, and I consider it more of a great collection of examples. A bit "crowded" design a couple of places, though.

...these photos are carefully composed and schtuff by me. Tomorrow I'll post a pic my wife shot through the windshield of our car while moving at a, let's call it brisk, pace........
